ERICHT

The central cabin of our smallholding is Ericht, which opened in April 2022. A bund with fencing on top runs between the cabins to give guests their privacy. Hot tubs sit at opposite ends of each cabin. We’ve been planting shrubbery, wild poppies and a clematis along the boundary too. It’s good for privacy, good for the bees and good for everything else that calls this place home.

Inside, compared to Isla, the mood shifts slightly, still warm and comfortable but its own thing entirely. The super king bed is the one people ask us about by name. There’s a touch more storage than next door too, handy if you’re staying a while. Glass doors along the front of the cabin frame the fields perfectly. That view alone is reason enough to book an extra night. Sheep tend to graze right there in front of you. It’s pretty dreamy when the clouds are drifting past. Doing very little is easy here. In fact, it’s kind of the whole point.

Everything else follows a similar shape to Isla, just arranged a little differently. A hot tub sits at the far end for seclusion. There’s a fire pit outside for you to build and light yourselves, with logs and kindling waiting in the wooden cubby. The robes and slippers are hanging up ready for you. Watch the Smart TV from the sofa, or don’t bother and stay in bed instead. The kitchen runs to a coffee machine and cafetiere alongside the usual cooking kit. There’s a private en suite shower and heated towel rail.
